Beginner & Progression Guide

Community guideVersion 1.2 · Updated 25 July 2026

Let's go!

Unofficial community guide. Built from advice shared in this Discord, player testing and repeated community discussions.

Balance, events and server schedules can change. Always check the current event screen and announcements before spending important resources.

Start Here

1. Build one main team

Do not spread resources across every hero you unlock.

2. Prioritise Sword Demon

For most F2P and low-spend players, Sword Demon is the safest first Mythic investment because he provides both frontline durability and damage.

3. Aim for Sword Demon Level 10

This is the most repeated early milestone. After that, strengthen the heroes supporting your main team.

4. Keep a balanced team

A reliable team usually contains:

  • One main carry
  • One healer
  • Buffs, debuffs or crowd control
  • A second damage source when needed

5. Save rare resources

Do not spend selection chests, summon tickets, Golden Hammers or event currency without a target.

6. Play every daily mode

Campaign matters, but Arena, Endless Abyss, Co-op, Guild activities and events provide much of your long-term progress.

The biggest beginner mistake is upgrading too many heroes at once. Focus beats variety early.

Early F2P Team

A practical starting team:

  • Bounty HunterBounty Hunter — Main damage dealer
  • Holy KnightHoly Knight — Early frontline tank
  • OnmyojiOnmyoji — Main healer
  • Necromancer ApprenticeSkeleton Summoner — Summons distract enemies and bosses
  • Star MageStar Mage — Early burst damage

Upgrade Order

  1. 1Bounty HunterBounty Hunter
  2. 2OnmyojiOnmyoji
  3. 3Holy KnightHoly Knight
  4. 4Necromancer ApprenticeSkeleton Summoner
  5. 5Star MageStar Mage

Easy Replacements

  • No Onmyoji → use your best available healer
  • No Star Mage → use Fire Spirit Master or a second healer
  • Dying too quickly → replace Star Mage with more healing or defence
  • Unlock Sword Demon → replace Holy Knight and begin building Sword Demon

Do not immediately replace a developed hero with a Level 1 Mythic. A shiny red border cannot perform miracles by itself.

Common Beginner Mistakes

  • Upgrading too many heroes
  • Spending summon tickets outside the event
  • Using Mythic Selection Chests randomly before Sword Demon Level 10
  • Using Golden Hammers on yellow or lower gems
  • Replacing a developed hero with an undeveloped Mythic
  • Investing heavily in situational heroes too early
  • Building five damage dealers without proper support
  • Treating Tidecaller as a third main carry
  • Assuming a correct pet recipe guarantees success
  • Letting Co-op tickets or energy reach the cap
  • Ignoring boss weaknesses and immunities
  • Calling one Arena setup “the best” without testing it against your server

Final Beginner Rule

Build two strong carries, keep them alive and use the remaining slots to solve the fight.

For most accounts, that means working toward:

Sword Demon + Bounty Hunter + Healer + Support + Flex

Focus on your core team first. Most early mistakes come from spreading valuable resources too widely.

This guide can be updated when balance changes or stronger community testing becomes available.

Bounty Hunter moves up to SS Tier

Due to her skill tweak from the past updates and the dmg output is on par with Sword Demon

Main Progression Targets

  • Sword DemonSword Demon → Level 10 first
  • Flower SpiritFlower Spirit or Onmyoji → enough investment to keep the team alive
  • Bounty HunterBounty Hunter → Level 20 is a major damage target
  • PharaohPharaoh → Level 5+ can already provide useful support
  • SuccubusSuccubus → becomes more valuable with proper investment, especially around Level 10+

After Sword Demon reaches Level 10, improve the rest of your main team instead of pushing only one hero forever.

Roles

  • Sword DemonSword Demon — Frontline carry and sustain
  • Bounty HunterBounty Hunter — Main single-target and boss damage
  • Flower SpiritFlower Spirit — Main healer and defensive support
  • PharaohPharaoh — Team damage support or crowd control
  • Flex slot — Change this hero to solve the current problem

This is a strong general foundation for Campaign, bosses and overall progression.

It is not necessary to level every hero equally.

General Investment Order

  1. 1Sword DemonSword Demon to Level 10
  2. 2Flower SpiritFlower Spirit or Onmyoji
  3. 3Bounty HunterBounty Hunter
  4. 4PharaohPharaoh
  5. 5Your flex hero

A lower-level support can improve the whole team more than another heavily upgraded damage dealer.

Choosing the Flex Slot

SuccubusSuccubus — More Damage

  • Adds Weakness and other debuffs
  • Strong for bosses and timed stages
  • Becomes better with meaningful investment
  • A strong general offensive option around Level 10+

OnmyojiOnmyoji — More Survival

  • Use when one healer is not enough
  • Works well alongside Flower Spirit
  • Useful for difficult stages and defensive Arena teams

TidecallerTidecaller — Summons and Arena Utility

  • Summons can absorb enemy attacks
  • Helpful against some random-target bosses
  • Community reports her as useful on Arena offence and defence
  • Provides utility rather than replacing your main carries

Necromancer ApprenticeSkeleton Summoner — Budget Distractions

  • Adds extra targets
  • Helps protect important heroes
  • A cheaper alternative when you need summons

Simple Swap Rule

  • Need more damage → Succubus
  • Keep dying → Onmyoji
  • Need summons or Arena utility → Tidecaller
  • Need a cheaper summon option → Skeleton Summoner

Stage weaknesses and enemy mechanics still matter. Do not force the same five heroes into every fight.

Skill Priorities

Bounty HunterBounty Hunter

Community-recommended core:

  • Ammunition·MercuryMercury Bullet
  • Spearmanship·Kinetic EnergyKinetic Energy
  • Spearmanship·Double shotDouble Shot or Tear
  • Barrage timeBarrage

Kinetic Energy makes Barrage especially powerful. During battle, prioritise Bounty Hunter’s important skills first.

Sword DemonSword Demon

  • Phantom Powder·BladeBlade Storm Heal
  • +20 Fear / Fear Abyss
  • Double Damage
  • Fear ResolutionFear Resolution

Use Fear Resolution against bosses and durable frontline enemies.

Use Many Shadows / clones when you need to reach a dangerous enemy backline.

PharaohPharaoh

Choose based on the fight:

  • Beam • Superimpose — crowd control
  • Secret Technique·EncouragementEncouragement — increases team damage
  • Beam Vulnerable — increases damage received by the enemy
  • Stun upgrades when control is useful

Pharaoh is normally used for his team support and control, not personal damage.

Support Skill Priorities

SuccubusSuccubus

Prioritise:

  • Extra Heartbreak
  • Heartbreak Duration
  • Spell·WeaknessWeakness effects
  • Yang·healingHealing reduction
  • Charm when crowd control is useful

Succubus is valuable because she helps the rest of the team deal more damage. Her personal damage is not the main reason to use her.

Flower SpiritFlower Spirit

Prioritise:

  • Stronger healing
  • Faster energy generation
  • Faster skill recharge
  • Cleanse
  • Defensive support

Ignore damage upgrades unless no useful support option appears.

Battle Upgrade Order

A useful general rule:

  1. 1Complete Bounty Hunter’s important damage skills
  2. 2Upgrade Sword Demon
  3. 3Take Pharaoh’s key team buffs or control
  4. 4Take Succubus’s important debuffs
  5. 5Add healing upgrades when needed

Supports usually only need their key skills. Do not spend every upgrade trying to turn them into damage dealers.

Resource Priorities

Save

  • Hero Summon Tickets — use them during the Hero Summon Event
  • Mythic Selection Chests — prioritise Sword Demon until Level 10
  • Golden Hammers — save them for red or better gems
  • Class EXP — focus on your main team

On many new servers, the first Hero Summon Event appears around Day 3, but always verify your own server schedule.

Spend Carefully

  • Guild Shop — Co-op Ticket and Purple Egg are repeatedly recommended daily purchases
  • Diamonds — summon tickets are usually one of the safer purchases when available
  • Gem Cubes — the Gem Summon Event has been disabled or removed from the normal rotation for now

Do not assume Gem Cubes will never matter again. The event could return or be reworked.

Avoid

  • Golden Hammers on yellow or lower gems
  • Summon Tickets outside their event
  • Upgrading every hero or class together
  • Spending event currency before checking every reward

Daily Checklist

  • Claim idle rewards
  • Complete daily missions
  • Use Arena attempts
  • Complete Guild Boss and Guild activities
  • Buy the daily Guild Shop priorities
  • Use Co-op tickets and energy before reaching the cap
  • Push Campaign and Endless Abyss after upgrades
  • Check the active event before summoning heroes or pets

Event Reward Priorities

Mythic Hero Selection

Prioritise Sword Demon until Level 10 unless your account has a very specific need.

Wings, Mounts and Avatars

When several permanent unlocks are available:

  1. 1Get one copy of each
  2. 2Upgrade duplicates afterwards

Unlocking a new permanent item is usually more valuable than immediately buying several copies of one item.

If you can only choose one:

  • Avatar gives slightly more power
  • Phantom Powder·BladeBlade Rhino and Ghost give roughly the same power

Seasonal Keys

Use seasonal keys before the season resets.

Community confirmation indicates that unused seasonal keys expire rather than carrying over permanently.

Event rewards and schedules may differ between servers. Always check the reward screen before spending your tokens.

Pets

Pets have 2 different roles:

  • Deployed pets: use their active skill at the start of battle.
  • Support pets: give a passive buff during the whole fight.

Always check both skills before choosing where to place a pet.

Recommended Beginner Setup

Deployed

  • PandaPanda: priority pet. Copies one of your heroes and can greatly increase your damage.
  • Best available active pet: use your strongest useful deployed skill. Harry is a good temporary option if you have nothing better.

Support

  • RobinRobin: excellent for Bounty Hunter because of the Archer attack-speed buff.
  • Bone EagleBone Eagle: useful when running Control heroes such as Pharaoh and Succubus.

End-Game Goal

Deployed

  • AizenAizen: best pet because it creates additional hero copies.
  • GodoffGodoff: strong opening damage buff, healing and shield.

Support

  • Keep Robin for Bounty Hunter.
  • Use the second support slot for the pet that best matches your team or game mode.

Important Tips

  • Level the pet slot, not the individual pet. Replacing a pet does not waste those levels.
  • Keep and lock Panda, Joyboy, Aizen, Godoff and Robin.
  • Save pet eggs for the Pet Summon Event.
  • Check the visible synthesis results before combining pets.
  • Do not judge pets only by rarity or power. Their deployed and support skills matter more.

Advanced: Bosses & Timed Stages

A strong general damage team:

Sword DemonSword DemonBounty HunterBounty HunterPharaohPharaohSuccubusSuccubusFlower SpiritFlower Spirit

Why It Works

  • Bounty HunterBounty Hunter supplies most of the boss damage
  • Sword DemonSword Demon survives the frontline while contributing damage
  • PharaohPharaoh adds Encouragement and Beam Vulnerable
  • SuccubusSuccubus adds Weakness and other debuffs
  • Flower SpiritFlower Spirit keeps the team alive

Battle Priority

  1. 1Complete Bounty Hunter’s damage package
  2. 2Upgrade Sword Demon
  3. 3Take Pharaoh’s damage-support skills
  4. 4Give Succubus her key Weakness and Heartbreak skills
  5. 5Add only as much healing as the fight requires

If the timer is the problem, replace unnecessary defence with buffs and debuffs.

If the boss attacks random targets, Tidecaller or Skeleton Summoner can provide expendable summons.

This is a strong general team, not a universal answer. Check the boss weakness, immunities and mechanics before changing your entire account.

Advanced: Arena / PvP

There is not enough consistent community evidence to declare one unbeatable team, but these are reliable starting shells.
